Crochet stars are beautiful decorative objects, particularly so for Christmas trees. To make a simple crochet star pattern you don’t need very high crocheting expertise. Such stars can be made by even beginners and small start which is around 2.5 inch of diameter, takes only an evening to get completed. To make a small crochet star pattern, you will need worsted weight yarn, 5.5 mm crochet hook and scissors.
Now follow this pattern:
Round 1: Do one puff stitch. To make puff stitches, yarn over and then take the hook into the ring, yarn over and then pull through. Repeat this process for 7 more times. You should have altogether seven loops on your hook. For the last time, yarn over and pull the hook through all the loops. Chain 2, make another 4 puff stitches. Now do a slip stitch onto the top of the 1st puff stitch.
Round 2: Chain 2. In the same stitch, make 2 double crochet, chain 1, 3 double crochet. For the next 4 puff stitches, make 3 double crochet, chain 1, 3 double crochet. Do a slip stitch into the first double stitch to end the round.
Round 3: Chain 1. In the chain space from the last round do 1 half double crochet, 2 double crochet, chain 2, 2 double crochet, 1 half double crochet. Chain 1 makes a slip stitch from the 3rd double crochet from hook. Repeat this whole process 4 times. The last slip stitch finishes this round.
Now make it tight and weave the ends. Alternatively, you can use 2 or multiple colors of yarn to make layers in your crochet star pattern.
